It's a beautiful  early 19th century horn/tortoiseshell fan, the guard sticks decorated with gold/gilt metal and steel, the rivet with stones. Condition: the ribbon split in many places and needs to be replaced, some steel dots and some of the sticks at the top missing, (see photos)

An interesting fan! the sticks are carved tortoiseshell, this sticks look like it has been made for a parchment or lace leaf of the 17th century, the wide spines are probably to slot in the leaf, the current leaf is 18th century but not made for this fan. It measures: 24cms. Condition: one of the guard sticks has been broken above the rivet.

KP.11 is a very beautiful 18th century fan, the guard sticks are carved ivory and pique with silver, Mother-of-Pearl decoration, the main sticks are also carved and pique with silver, the leaf is painted with beautiful colours. It measures: 28cms. Condition: the leaf needs to be cleaned, and there is a small amount of damaged, one thing that puzzled me in there seems to be one stick missing although but the fan leaf looks like it has been made for those sticks!... its the first stick from the left hand side.  (The child under the cloak is I presume an allegorical reference to the ‘concealment’ of Vertumnus’ identity.  Sometimes the design shows a mask cast aside which serves the same purpose.  Pomona is shown with her pruning knife – which is typical. It measures: 30cms. Sold Price: £550

Two outstanding Grand Tour Fans, the first one - the sticks are in gold and black lacquered, the painted leaf shows a magnificent panoramic view of Naples and the eruption of Vesuve dated 22 Oct 1822. The other one the sticks are of gold coloured metal with a makers mark, you can see the hallmark on the last but one photo. The one with lacquered sticks measures: 19cms and the other measures: 16cms. Condition: one lacquered stick repaired (see photos). Price on demand.

Condition: The guard sticks have been replaced, the first 8cms are the originals but from then on the guard sticks are not the same width and date from a later period. Sold  Price: £650

A MARRIAGE FAN
Antique fan stock no.H67.4
is a most interesting Italian marriage fan, dating from around 1690. The painted leaf shows what an important marriage looks like, with lots of attendants, a priest, and other dignitaries. Above in the clouds cherubs are scattering flowers while on the other side musicians are blowing trumpets and others are playing different musical instruments. The ivory sticks are pique. The guard sticks are inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl and tortoiseshell. It measures: 26cms. Condition: See photos, we are not sure if there is a stick missing from the left hand side or not. we have to leave it up to you to decide - but in any case it is a very rare and interesting fan. The ivory sticks are carved and pierced  showing two couples and the guard stick shows a gentleman with a walking stick and other decorative items. The painted skin leaf is decorated with a lady looking at a mirror surrounded by many attendants with a little dog in the foreground.  It measures: 28cms.
