- the sticks are in gold and black lacquered, the painted leaf shows a
magnificent panoramic view of Naples and the eruption of Vesuve dated 22 Oct
1822. The other one the sticks are of gold coloured metal with a makers

A MARRIAGE FAN
Antique fan stock no.H67.4 is a most
interesting Italian marriage fan, dating from around 1690. The painted leaf
shows what an important marriage looks like, with lots of attendants, a
priest, and other dignitaries. Above in the clouds cherubs are scattering
flowers while on the other side musicians are blowing trumpets and others
are playing different musical instruments. The ivory sticks are pique. The
guard sticks are inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl and tortoiseshell. It measures:

beautifully pierced and carved, displaying three cameos with
little garlands of flowers below. It measures: 24 1/2 cms (9 3/4
inches) condition: the original ribbon is missing as are two sticks :
